Family Coaching

When children are unhappy at school, everyone in the family is affected. Parents and young people often get stuck in a vicious cycle of worry, blame and conflict.

I work primarily with parents to create a tailored plan that addresses the specific needs of your child. From understanding the options within the school system to exploring alternative routes, I will signpost and support you every step of the way. You'll gain clarity on the issues at hand and the confidence to advocate for your child's well-being.

Coaching is an empowering process. I presume that the answers to your questions and solutions to your problems lie within you and provide a safe and confidential space to guide, encourage and challenge you to make positive changes for your child.

You might feel emotionally exhausted by your child’s distress or like you’re banging your head against a brick wall trying to get the support you need from school. Working with a coach, who understands school and family context, creates space for calm reflection and gives you somebody to lean on.

  • Understand better what your child is experiencing in school and why they are responding as they are

  • Challenge yourself to listen to your instincts about what’s right for your young person

  • Learn about flexibilities within the school system so you can advocate for your child

  • Empower yourself to approach school with a plan

It’s likely that everybody else thinks they know what’s best for you when you feel anxious and unhappy. It can be hard to make sense of your thoughts and feelings and to communicate them to your parents and teachers so they listen. Working with a coach gives you a space to talk some of this through and improve things.

  • Recognise what you can and can’t control and decide where to invest your energy

  • Develop strategies to take care of yourself

  • Unpick the reasons that school is difficult for you

  • Work out what you and others can do to help you feel happier

Families

You may be struggling to see each other’s point of view when it comes to school or stressed out and stuck over what’s best to do. You know something needs to change but feel helpless and despairing. Committing to coaching as a family puts you in a stronger position to work in collaboration on a way forward.

  • Build understanding

  • Resolve conflict

  • Forge stronger connections

  • Support one another in making a plan so things get better
